CIRS
Interview with Ted Lynch at CIRS
I am here with Ted Lynch at CIRS to learn about what's new in the world of phantoms.
Ted, what do you want us to take away from the meeting this year?
What I'm showing here is our newest ultrasound QA phantom. It's a doppler flow system. What we've designed is something that's configurable with a range of tissue mimicking flow phantoms.
Right now we're showing our Model 69, which has three different vessels all a quarter inch inside diameter with tissue mimicking material in it at different angles so that you can simulate both peripheral vascular flow and deep abdominal flow at a range of Doppler angles.
The flow pump that it connects to has both puls tool and a constant velocity flow, and it has a flow control valve that allows you to adjust over a range of velocities and a flow meter so that you can calibrate your flow velocity against what you're reading out with your Doppler system.
Oh, so this will tell me exactly what the flow is so I can then tell if indeed that's what I'm measuring.
Exactly. And it also comes with our blood mimicking fluid, which is physiologically fluid mimicking of blood.
So it'll show red blood cells and that sort of thing?
Exactly. Oh, pretty interesting.
Now is this product available worldwide now?
We're currently exhibiting as a works in progress. We anticipate releasing it for sale in January.
Oh, that's just around the corner?
Yes. And the other thing that we'll do eventually is add different physiological mimicking systems that could be configured with add-ons for a range of different doppler tests.
Good. In these days, one can't be too careful about keeping their quality assurance at a high level, and this looks like it'll help do the trick.
Absolutely. Thank you very much.
