Course Objectives

  • Describe the visceral and vascular sonographic anatomy of the abdomen

  • Relate the vascular anatomic landmarks used for ultrasound interrogation of the central and upper abdomen

  • Define the most common mesenteric, renal, and hepatic anatomic anomalies

  • Discuss the optimal image planes employed for sonographic imaging of the mesenteric, renal, and hepato-portal vessels
