Mesenteric Ischemia

0% Complete

Course Overview

This course delves into the techniques and diagnostic criteria for assessing mesenteric ischemia through duplex ultrasound. Learn how to evaluate the celiac, superior mesenteric, and inferior mesenteric arteries using spectral Doppler to identify hemodynamically significant lesions. The course covers both acute and chronic mesenteric ischemia, including the physiological changes in blood flow post-meal, and the impact of atherosclerosis. Master techniques for interpreting velocity criteria and applying clinical correlation for accurate diagnosis of mesenteric arterial disease.

Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant will:

  • Understand the pathophysiology and necessary anatomy of mesenteric ischemia.

  • How to properly perform a complete arterial duplex of the mesenteric vessels.

  • Understand how to properly interpret arterial duplex of the mesentery.

Target Audience

  • Physicians, sonographers, and others who perform and/or interpret ultrasound.
