
Carotid Duplex Examination
Course Overview
Carotid duplex ultrasound assesses cerebrovascular circulation, aiding in identifying carotid stenosis and stroke risk. It evaluates atherosclerotic plaque, fibromuscular dysplasia, dissections, tumors, aneurysms, and post-procedure complications. Spectral Doppler ensures accurate diagnosis and follow-up for stroke prevention.
Course Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will:
Recognize anatomy and physiology related to a carotid duplex examination
Understand common and uncommon carotid pathology
Distinguish normal and abnormal carotid duplex findings
Target Audience
Physicians, sonographers, and others who perform and/or interpret ultrasound.
