
Carotid Ultrasound Case Series: What's the Diagnosis?
Course Overview
Carotid ultrasound involves using ultrasound imaging to diagnose carotid artery conditions. By analyzing grayscale, Doppler, and color images, diagnoses such as stenosis, atherosclerosis, fibromuscular dysplasia, carotid dissections, or carotid body tumors can be identified, aiding in treatment planning.
Course Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will:
Describe spectral waveform changes associated with proximal and distal stenosis noted in carotid ultrasound exams.
Accurately identify the cervical arteries
Differentiate atherosclerotic carotid disease from non-atherosclerotic carotid artery pathologies
Target Audience
Physicians, sonographers, and others who perform and/or interpret ultrasound.
