Course Overview

Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) evaluates carotid artery health, predicting cardiovascular risk. Measured on the distal common carotid artery's posterior wall, CIMT identifies risks even in asymptomatic patients. Automated software enhances accuracy. Protocols assist in early detection of vascular disease progression.

Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant will:

  • Identify the patient population that will benefit from CIMT measurements.

  • Identify limitations contributing to CIMT measurements

  • Implement CIMT protocols in their ultrasound department.
