Course Overview

Learn how to assess and diagnose various umbilical cord abnormalities through sonography. This course covers key topics including cord length, cysts, coiling, two-vessel cords, vasa previa, and more. Gain insights into the importance of these conditions, their potential risks, and how ultrasound plays a critical role in early detection and management of complications during pregnancy.


Course Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant will:

  • Describe the clinical significance of abnormalities of the umbilical cord size, shape and vascularity.

  • Apply ultrasound findings to detect clinically significant changes in the umbilical cord.

  • Improve pregnancy outcome through identification of cord abnormalities associated with high risk pregnancy.


Target Audience

  • Physicians, sonographers, and others who perform and/or interpret obstetrical ultrasound.
