Objectives
By the end of this session, ultrasound professionals will be able to:
Explain the role of Doppler ultrasound in fetal echocardiography and its contribution to assessing cardiac structure and function.
Identify appropriate clinical indications for Doppler use in fetal cardiac evaluation.
Describe optimal timing for Doppler assessment during gestation and its relevance to diagnostic accuracy.
Select and apply the correct Doppler modality—Color, Pulsed Wave (PW), Spectral, or Power Doppler—based on the clinical question.
Optimize ultrasound machine settings (PRF, gain, wall filter, angle, gate size) to obtain accurate and reproducible Doppler waveforms.
Recognize and interpret normal versus abnormal Doppler flow patterns in fetal cardiac and extracardiac structures.
