Objectives

  • Develop a strategy for complete ultrasound exam and assess the pancreatic ductal anatomy. 

  • Compare the sonographic appearance of normal pancreatic anatomy versus pancreatitis. 

  • Differentiate the sonographic characteristics seen with acute versus chronic pancreatitis and distinguish pancreatic atrophy post-pancreatitis. 

  • Evaluate the sonographic characteristics of pancreatic pseudocysts, simple cysts, and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms.
