Course Overview

This course delves into the quantification of aortic regurgitation (AR) using advanced echocardiographic techniques. Participants will explore various methods such as color Doppler, continuous and pulsed-wave Doppler, PISA, and the continuity method to assess regurgitant volume, EROA, and regurgitant fraction. The course covers different types of AR, jet directions, and the challenges of measuring severity, providing detailed case studies to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Course Objectives

  • Compare the different methods of assessing Aortic Regurgitation

  • Design a plan to use echocardiographic tools for accurate diagnosis.

  • Evaluate pathology and measurements needed to assess severity.

  • Formulate equations used to evaluate the severity of AR.

  • Analyze diagnostic techniques to assess the level of AR Severity

Target Audience

  • Cardiologists

  • Echocardiographers

  • Others who perform and/or interpret echocardiography.

* AMA PRA Category 1 ™ credits are used by physicians and other groups like PAs and certain nurses. Category 1 credits are accepted by the ARDMS, CCI, ACCME, and Sonography Canada.
