Course Overview

This comprehensive course covers the fundamentals of M-mode and 2D echocardiography, key imaging techniques in cardiac ultrasound. Learn about ultrasound probe movements, imaging planes, clinical applications, and key parameters for assessing heart structure, function, and pathology, including valve motion and ventricular function.


Course Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant will:

  • Analyze the imaging planes and movements used in echocardiography

  • Evaluate the basics of 2D image formation

  • Describe a normal M-mode echo tracing

  • Distinguish when to use M-mode tracings

  • Differentiate abnormal pathology on a M-mode


Target Audience

  • Physicians, sonographers, and others who perform and/or interpret cardiac ultrasound.
