
Advanced Dementia Care: Assessment, Diagnosis, Communication, and Management
Course Overview
This course covers key aspects of dementia care, including Alzheimer’s disease. It focuses on assessment and diagnosis procedures, effective communication strategies with dementia patients, and designing and implementing comprehensive management and care plans.
Course Objectives
Develop and enhance healthcare professionals’ understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
Employ appropriate strategies in the assessment and diagnosis of patients in need of Advanced Dementia Care
Design and apply effective communication strategies in for treating patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s
Utilize proper management procedures and care planning in these patient populations.
Target Audience
This course is appropriate for all healthcare professionals professionals working with adult populations aged 26 or older.
Additionally, if working or licensed in Illinois, this course satisfies the Dementia training requirement for Healthcare Proffesionals according to (20 ILCS 2105/2105-365) Sec. 2105-365. Continuing education; Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Which states “For license or registration renewals occurring on or after January 1, 2023, a health care professional who has continuing education requirements must complete at least a one-hour course in training on the diagnosis, treatment, and care of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias per renewal period.”
This course is appropriate for physicians, nurses, NP, PA, paramedics, healthcare technologists and others that may interact with adult patients and have the opportunity to recognize and care for patients with dementia.
