Objectives
Enhance Procedural Skills: Improve proficiency in performing ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, such as joint injections, for better visualization of anatomy and pain management.
Expand Diagnostic Capabilities: Increase the use of ultrasound as a primary and effective tool for diagnosing and evaluating musculoskeletal disorders, including:
Assessing rotator cuff tears (e.g., as a first-line evaluation).
Evaluating wrist tendon injuries.
Diagnosing and correlating conditions like Gamekeeper's Thumb with MRI findings.
Differentiating between joint effusion and synovial hypertrophy in various forms of arthritis (e.g., Rheumatoid Arthritis).
Deepen MSK Knowledge: Acquire a greater breadth of specialized MSK knowledge and techniques for specific anatomical regions, including:
Shoulder (e.g., beyond the rotator cuff, dynamic evaluation).
Elbow and post-operative elbow.
Ankle pathology and protocols (e.g., ACR, ESSR protocols).
Interdigital Neuroma and forefoot ultrasound.
Improve Patient Outcomes and Practice Efficiency: Share new skills with colleagues to establish MSK ultrasound services, recommend more appropriate examinations, and potentially reduce patient wait times for other imaging studies like MRI.
